North Korea shuts down universities for 10 months

North Korea has shut down its universities for the next 10 months and sent students to work in factories, agriculture and the construction sector as it struggles to rebuild its economy.

I heard that Japanese experts on North Korea believe this is because the goverment is worried that the universities will be the breeding ground for revolution, inspired by the revolts in Tunisia and other parts of the Islam world.

Or it could just be they don't have the money to run the schools.

If that's the reason for shutting these universities down, I think it will backfire badly. If you WANT a revolution, force students to work like slaves in factories, fields, and construction sites.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Interesting, I see your point, the students, often sons of the elites, would see the horrible conditions their countrymen and now themselves work under and become the cadre to train them for revolution.

And how will the high command feel about firing on striking workers when they know their children are living the demonstrations?
