Fox News was the latest victim of a hack, with a posting Monday on its political Twitter account - @foxnewspolitics - saying President Obama had been assassinated in Iowa, the shooter unknown and that Joe Biden replaced him.
The series of six tweets showed up early Monday morning on the account, which has more than 36,000 followers. Fox News issued a statement calling the tweets "malicious" and "false," and said the hacking incident is under investigation.
The tweets are still visible on the @foxnewspolitics Twitter page as of 11:00 AM ET Monday.
The Guardian reported that a representative of the group 'Scriptkiddies' claimed responsibility:
"We are looking to find information about corporations to assist with antisec [a concerted hacker attack on corporate and government security]. Fox News was selected because we figured their security would be just as much of a joke as their reporting."
FoxNews.com said that it alerted the U.S. Secret Service, and the company is working with Twitter to address the situation.
"We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorized access into FoxNews.com accounts," said Jeff Misenti, vice president and general manager of Fox News Digital.
I never heard of "Scriptkiddies". I'd of guessed Media Matters hacked Fox's Twitter. Or it could just be Bill O'Reilly tweeting from his bathroom throne.
Scriptkiddies is a term used for amateurs who use Linux or Unix operating system as opposed to computer programmers on these OS. As far as being some organized group, that is not very likely. Googling will give a more complete description of this class of hacker.

It depends on how you look at it.
If you look at the link, you see the Fox News.com logo on each tweet and it was posted on their official Twitter account.
But I made it obvious in the post that it was a hack and was probably not originated from Fox News.
Could my subject of been clearer? Of course! Not that it ever happens here. But the body of the post was clear.
At least I didn't title it "OBAMA ASSASSINATED!". I figured that by leading it with "Fox News reports" would make it clear there was more to it (i.e. Fox News is often questioned here), plus ending with the "...".
Oh, I see. Sensationalism. What you have posted is a VERY dangerous subject and should be avoid even in whispers. It should not even be hinted at. The liberals who hacked into FOX are playing a very dangerous game and they should be hunted down and put in prison.

Yeah I knew this story this morning so when I saw the title, I just considered the source. Very irresponsible. Guess I could have posted this morning that obama believes that White's are liars, since his mentor is repeating it over and over. Let's just all make up titles to threads that are totally untrue.
