A great political quiz to tell you where you stand.

Compass:
You are a left social moderate.
Left: 5.08, Libertarian: 0.31

I'm bummed I'm not "intellectual" too. How did any of those questions determine that?!
Otherwise, no surprises here.
Viking - I take exception to your comments. I was raised in a very conservative, Republican household, went to a public school with mostly conservative teachers, and started "thinking for myself" in my 20s. I discovered that there are many issues in our society that are too complex to split into black and white or say that one party or the other has the absolute correct answer for making improvements in our lives, society, and planet. Debate and action must be born from the best knowledge available and made with the best ideas of all viewpoints that will serve all for the greater good.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

5.83 Right
3.31 Libertarian.

Thought I would be closer to the middle.

Not sure of your age but now a days less than 12% of teachers vote Republican. So the majority of teachers believe in more liberal teachings.

Viking, how are you defining "liberal teachings?" I honestly don't remember my high school or college teachers coming across as either liberal or conservative (granted, it was a really long time ago, but still). Are you referring strictly to Social Studies? And, if so, do you think it's the curriculum itself that is liberal or how it's presented? I actually was much more conservative (politically) in my 20's and drifted to a more liberal position the older I got.

Viking - do you have a source for this? I've been searching to find demographics on teachers and am coming up empty. Cincinnati is hugely conservative so going based on the general population demographics, a greater majority of teachers would be conservative as well following that line of reasoning (my friends who became teachers are all conservative, but that's an n=3, hardly significant!). Of course it could be skewed more liberally if it is a profession that beckons that way - and it certainly is at higher levels of education, but I'm not sure you can make the same extrapolation to grade school, middle school, and maybe even high school. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated!

I just got home but I will look for it tomorrow. I know I saw that statistic last election.

I took the test yesterday (because Viking made me lol ), but I didn't copy it to post it. I was right on the line to the left. Viking, I too take exception to what you said. I don't think people who lean to the right are the only people out there that "think for themselves." That's kind of an absurd statement to make. I DO think for myself and I lean to the left.

I was just responding to all the posts VL makes about the right being ignorant and dim witted. I know people on both sides think for themselves.
