New rules proposed by the Colorado Department of Human Services include a requirement that all day-care centers in the state make available dolls representing three different races.

The 98-page document, obtained by 7News, features a slew of rule changes. Among them: children over age two must not be served whole milk without a note from a doctor, kids over age one can't drink more than six ounces of juice per day, TV and computer time will be capped at twenty minutes daily, and staffers must wear clothes that cover their lap and shoulders. But arguably the most unusual suggestion pops up on page 77: "Dolls shall represent three (3) races."

The handful of government brains always know what's best for us...never argue.

I see nothing wrong with any of those things listed - especially not the dolls. My children benefitted greatly from going to culturally diverse schools - elementary for daughter, preschool for son. It helped them a great deal with life in the future. What harm having different skin colored dolls?

Actually, this is a sad commentary that this has to be legislated.

I am lucky to be alive today, I grew up on whole milk. Why couldn't I have had bureaucrats meddling in my life with their 98 page reports?

It doesn't need to be legislated. Just another example of the nanny state - Government Knows Best.

And you think that the Government should legistlate how much milk and juice kids can drink and the color of dolls that have to be available and when it is 105 degrees out they should be able to tell the staff that their shoulders have to be covered? What the hell is wrong with this country that we have a government that can't balance a budget but they feel they can run a day care better than licensed professionals? Get the government out of out lives! These things are all so superficial and probably cost us a fortune for them to think up, vote on, and print out.

I say burn all legistlation and have them start over with the main things that government was created for!

I don't have a problem with daycare centers providing racially diverse dolls but in the general scheme of things it seems to be a really petty concern.
