The Unbearable Smugness of Liberals: A Guide for the Perplex

What I find always interesting is that any liberal who bothers too read this will agree with much of it, if only the polarities were reversed.

"Belladonna's first PJ Advice column answers the age-old question: How do you deal with the intense anger and condescension that Democrats express toward conservatives?

Fortunately, most people in America don't live in liberal ghettos.

Dear Belladonna Rogers:

I live in deep blue America and am a conservative. When I see old friends after a long absence, or meet new people, they assume I’m a liberal Democrat, in part because they are, and also because I live in a blue city in a blue state. I don’t like to argue in social settings, so normally I don’t reveal my political views. I can deal with differences of opinion, but what I find increasingly unpleasant is how smug and nasty liberal Democrats are when referring to conservatives, Republicans, or even independents. I’d like to remain close to old friends and form new friendships, too. How do you suggest I deal with the demeaning attitudes and intense anger that so many liberals express toward conservatives these days?

Dear Adrift,

(1) It is unpleasant to be treated as a moron, or criminally insane, a traitor to all that’s good and true, and, of course, a pariah, just because of your politics.".......................

I have a friend like that who works in Denver City goverment so his coworkers assume he is liberal like them. They don't suffer that delusion for long. He is quite vocal about his dislike for the current President and he is even willing to take potshots in the office at his former bosses Webb and Hickenlooper.

All this proves is that insane partisanism blinds like little else.

I wish more people would take a walk on the wild side and just give up partisan identity for a couple months, just to see what happens.

And I can imagine the same happens with conservatives, probably should stay quiet in rural America if you love Barney Frank and Henry Waxman.

I wouldn't recommend rural Mississippi in that case.

I like to get up right in their grill- look um right in the eye and tell um that I hate commies!

I'm more of a libertarian- and it's big government I oppose, I'm not shy about saying it. I think conservatives need to be more vocal, stand up for what's right, and let your fellow socialists know that everyone is not a lefty. They are not shy about spewing out their garbage- we should not be shy either.

I was kinda proud on fathers day weekend when I went to the Evergreen Parade this year. The parade started out with a prayer- followed by the pledge of allegiance- and plenty of red, white and blue. I just know there were liberals scattered amongst the crowd, cringing at the awful sight- but you know I bet most people there were proud.

I was glad to see that those who put on the event had not surcome to the political correctness crowd.

Oh and P.S. you will irritate some by speaking your mind, they may not want to be friends with you afterward- but those are the ones who are not worth your time anyway, usually they are the ones who claim they value diversity.

A guide to the conservative world:

Blowing up the U.S. economy is preferable to raising taxes a little bit on the richest Americans to help stabilize the U.S. economy.

Spending taxpayer money to help the poor and elderly is bad, but spending taxpayer money on subsidies for mega-profitable industries that don’t need them is good.

"All men are created equal" means all men. Except the gay ones.

"Our #1 priority is jobs jobs jobs" means "Our #1 priority is anything but jobs jobs jobs."

The fact that voter fraud is not a problem means voter fraud is a huge problem.

The fact that climate change and oil dependence are huge problems means climate change and oil dependence are not problems.

George Bush wasn't president for eight years---we went straight from America-destroyer Bill Clinton to America-destroyer Barack Obama.

If Republicans in the House and Senate vote to end Medicare in favor of health care by coupons, and it turns out to be a blunder of epic proportions, it never happened.

Talk of secession is taken seriously.

Everything you need to know about science is in the Bible.

Suffering builds character, which is why we need more of it.

The prime directive is the destruction of one citizen---the guy in the White House---even if it comes at the expense of the other 311,747,129 citizens.
