Goverment To Send To Foster Care Obese Kids?

There are all kinds of circumstances where a child could be obese and maybe it isn't the parent's fault.

No, I do not agree with this and think it is a case of government getting way into someone else's personal business. Though, if the parent knew better and was only feeding their child chips, dip, soda-pop, and candy consistently, then yes...that child is being neglected and something needs to be done.

So how does it work? When a teacher thins a kid is overweight, do the overweight police break down the parents door and check through theri cupboards to see what they are feeding them? And what if the kids eat healthy at home but eat crap at school or from friends or at the store? This is WAY overreaching!

And didn't a lot of schools get rid of Gym because it made some kids feel uncomfortable?

Actually, as a person who has had kids in school since 1984 I can tell you that most that ended or curtailed gym programs did so because of budget cuts.

And yes, you sow what you reap.

Could you explain your reasoning behind your statement that this is a "Left" idea?

It's another idea for government to take more control of our personal lives so it HAS to be from the left. That is what they stand for and believe in.

So, you have no proof, facts, or objective reasoning, just a belief that it is liberal, because that's what you think liberals believe.

Simple question. If this made it to congress for a vote, which party do you think would have the majority vote for it?

Really? Neither party would vote for it.

It works the same way I was turned in because people (I never figured out who) thought I was not feeding my eldest because he looked too skinny. Apparently, my children were asked by someone at the school what they ate at home and they said (at the time they were in 3rd and 5th grades) they had Spam at home (while true, there was also frozen vegetables, starches, meat, etc). So the school reported it and Texas state got involved and because we were on a military installation, the military got involved and eventually both my boys and myself were brought into Family Services and interviewed. The social worker reviewed the boys' medical records and based on this information and the interview decided someone had too much time on their hands and that my eldest had skinny genes. The case stopped there.

At one point I was also told that because my youngest had 3 1/2 cavities in his teeth, that I was going to be turned in for neglecting him. Fortunately, when the dentist office told me this, I pulled out his dental records from his old dentist and showed that he had been to the dentist within the 3 months preceeding this appointment, so I had not been neglecting him by not taking him to the dentist.

I agree, it is way overreaching and I think would be very difficult to prove neglect or abuse. Another drain on tax-payers to fund a chicken race...especially 'cuz Social Services has a difficult time keeping truly abused or neglected children from dying.

And they were just talking about it on the news and said that this would open the door in many nasty divorce cases. A husband who didn't get custody of his child could claim she is abusing him because he is overweight and he deserves custody. This is totally opening pandora's box.
