Goverment To Send To Foster Care Obese Kids?

In the Denver Post this morning, they had an article saying parents of very obese children should lose their kids to foster care.

Do you agree with this? Personally I don't know. I can see taking a kid from a parent due to assaults or neglect, but would an obese kid be a sign of neglect or just lazy parenting?

And with the horror stories you hear about some foster care situations, are you just moving the kid from the frying pan into the fire?

Absolutely disagree with another extreme Left idea that children are a ward of the state and parents are just the breeders for the welfare state.

I'm opposed to sending kids to foster care except as an absolute last resort where the child's life is in danger.

Ahh...the Nanny State at it's finest. Let's just turn all kids over to the state as soon as their born. After all we peasants don't know squat. The state/politicians are so much smarter than we are! Sheesh....

It's another idea for government to take more control of our personal lives so it HAS to be from the left. That is what they stand for and believe in.

I read this this morning, but do you have the link for it?

I believe the circumstances should be thoroughly reviewed in these cases. Maybe the parent(s) came from a background where a lot of junk food or fatty foods and little or no exercise was the norm when they were growing up and they are just doing what they've learned.

There are all kinds of circumstances where a child could be obese and maybe it isn't the parent's fault.

No, I do not agree with this and think it is a case of government getting way into someone else's personal business. Though, if the parent knew better and was only feeding their child chips, dip, soda-pop, and candy consistently, then yes...that child is being neglected and something needs to be done.

Here's yet another example of how little you understand what the different parties "stand for" or even how they differ.

Both parties want control over people's personal lives, they only differ in what things they want control over.
