FAIRPLAY, Colo. (AP) - A Teller County sheriff's deputy and a detention officer could face misdemeanor child abuse charges for allegedly getting drunk and leaving four children unsupervised.

On July 23, 2011 at 00:32 hours a Park County Deputy was advised of an unresponsive male party at 38178 Park County Road 77. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with four unsupervised children. Upon further investigation, two intoxicated adults were found within the residence. They were identified as Kendal Klug and Joni Coleman; both are employees of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. The children were turned over to responsible adults. Both of the intoxicated parties were later issued summonses for misdemeanor child abuse.

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. -- Two people employed by the Teller County sheriff's office, who were issued summonses for misdemeanor child abuse over the weekend, are no longer employed by the sheriff's office, KRDO confirms.
