1 in 8 employer insurance plans getting axed under Obamacare

And so the disastor of Obamacare adds another chapter. I guess this is part of what Pelosi was talking about when she said we had to pass it to find out what was in it? Well now we know and it is going to really hurt America! And 20 percent of small employers expect to significantly change their benefit packages the next time they renew their health insurance plans. Almost all of them expected to see diminished benefits, increased employee costs, or both. So since at least 20% of these employees will see diminished benefits and / or increased costs to them, tell me again, HOW is this good for Americans?

One in eight small businesses have had or expect to have their health insurance plans terminated since the passage of President Obama’s health care reform.

This figure comes from a National Federation of Independent Business report which surveyed small businesses one year after the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The report, released today, found prevailing negative attitudes about the law’s impact among small business owners.

Among the most striking of NFIB’s findings was the number of employer health insurance plans that have been or will be eliminated since PPACA’s passage — 12 percent, or one in eight. Eliminating employer health care plans “is the first major consequence of PPACA that small-business owners likely feel,” the report said.

The NFIB study also found 20 percent of small employers expect to significantly change their benefit packages the next time they renew their health insurance plans. Almost all of them expected to see diminished benefits, increased employee costs, or both.

The rest of the story.....from the same report.

However, the American Public Health Association disputed the study’s findings. APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin said the study was mostly opinion and it was far too early to be criticizing the law, especially since most of it hasn’t even been rolled out yet.

“Most of the major parts haven’t gone into effect and shouldn’t be causing these market changes,” he said. “We’ve seen a lot of people blaming the law for things they ought not be blaming it for.”

makes a nice outrage though.......where was all this concern for people who never had employer health insurance....the people who worked hard for small businesses that didn't offer health plans.....the self-employed? Oh wait.....those very people, and any others whose employers may decide to stop offering health insurance or reduce benefits will be able to get health coverage through Obamacare. What a great boon for employees and small businesses. Imagine that!!!!!!

Just another Viking lie:

"However, those plans are being replaced by new products. The number of small employers offering or not offering employee health insurance is likely to change little over the next 12 months, according to the report."

From the same report.

Doesn't matter what it is replaced with. It is not nearly as good and will be MUCH more expensive. And 20% are already saying they will at the very least reduce the coverage they offer. THAT is not made up! But I understand how you guys hate discussing Obama's biggest failure.

Your posts are not credible, based on your record of lying and unethical behavior. Try showing some documented facts once in awhile, otherwise your posts are simply dismissed as not credible. There is no support that the plans are not nearly as good and more expensive other than your rant.

Anecdotal here:
Our company health insurance plan increased in costs and benefits have been reduced. The company is choosing to pick up all the increased costs this year, but who knows what next year will bring.

It only makes sense, if you eliminate maximums on coverage and allow "children" to be covered until they are 26, insurance costs will rise.

Good.

Health insurance never should have been tied to employment. It hurts both employees and employers to have it so.

It also creates a socially divisive caste system of those whose jobs provide health insurance vs those whose jobs do not. And since it tends to be the lower paying jobs that not also provide health insurance, it's a discentive for people to get off entitlement programs by working.
