"DENVER (CBS4) – Sixty-three out of 390 Colorado post offices are on a list to be closed. The U.S. Postal Service lost $8 billion last year and is now considering closing 10 percent of its offices, branches and stations.

The post offices would be replaced by a smaller grocery store kiosk."

I didn't know I had my own post office! And they want to close it! LOL :) Its an outrage!

Glad that the Bailey Post Office is not on the list we mail our Xmas gifts from there and there is rarely a line longer than 2 people.

Still sad though more people out of work and in some of these towns I can't imagine them being able to find work. I know that Rand and Cowdrey are both those kind of towns that if you blink you missed it.

Mesa Verde has its own post office?

According to the article we would have been notified if our PO was on the list so that we could have commented.

IIRC, I heard in the Flume that they might shut down the Jefferson contract post office.

I do like the idea of grocery store post offices, cheaper to maintain that seperate buildings.

And I am totally in favor of no Saturday mail delivery, I would also end Wednesday mail delivery. Most of my important mail arrives in my in-box.

I really wish they would not close Mesa Verde and Ophir --- they're classic rural Colorado officesl

i'm for shutting all those on the list down, and more.

8 billion in the hole means they need to reduce the size and scope of the postal service.

They should also consider firing administration positions from the top down.

I'm glad Bailey isn't on the list. The Conifer PO has too much traffic and people pull in too fast. I like the employees at both POs and Pine Junction as well.

I went to a very few conferences in my field and there were always plenty of USPS people there, as well as other government agencies represented.

They should cut back on those conferences.

When we are in AZ, rather than go through the forwarding process, then have to forward it back again when we come home, we get our mail sent to us once/week. Once we got used to it, it worked great for us. Once a week....max twice a week, is all anybody really needs. That could really save the PO some money.
