I disagree....yes it can get a whole lot worse....the GOP is bent on destroying the middle class and any kind of decent life for seniors. That's a country I don't want to see.

Judging from the advertising, life is pretty much as usual. New car commercials, airlines, luxury items, home improvements -- I've seen them all lately.

Yes, as archer said, it can get a whole lot worse and we can get much much lower, Martin.

Wow. If anyone thinks the comfortable American lifestyle is as bad as it gets they sure haven't gotten around much.

It's all about their party and their big donors. And no, I'm neither kidding nor am I exaggerating....if we elect one of them this country is going down.

If I didnt love my kids and grandkids so much I would hope this happens. But I can't bring myself to wish that kind of devastation on them.

Nah, much better for them to face having a privilege to be employed tax levied at 25% of their earnings with no caps on income to pay for the cost of the social programs bottomed on a Ponzi foundation and a government back in DC that wants to collect and spend a third of the annual GDP. That would be a much better government to live under. One that dictates how many french fries a restaurant can serve you, what food you are or are not allowed to grow on your own property, what commerce you must participate in or suffer a penalty. That's much closer to the recognizable nation handed down to us from those that penned our Constitution, don't you think?

And getting federal dollars to subsidize his pray-the-gay-away clinic; farm subsidies for a farm they are part-owners of; and now from Fannie Mae for a $417,000 home-loan for a 5,200 sq ft golf home--while wailing about how Fannie Mae is "unfair to taxpayers"... You can't make this up...

I thought you were of the opinion that the corporations ran everything and it doesn't matter who is elected? If Ron Paul won, he still would have to deal with the other bodies of goverment, checks and balances have worked for centuries, even when Pres. Wilson was incapacitated and his wife ran the country not telling the VP.

Edith Wilson ran the nation before the coup of the judiciary occurred around 1936 or so. Post FDR there really are no checks and balances left save for the ones the folks in DC impose upon themselves. A government that can tell you whether or not you can grow a crop for your own consumption or dictate the commerce you must participate in is effectively a government without limits on its powers.
