Good post! And I agree. Only if we are going with your logic here, then the 50% who don't pay ANY taxes shouldn't get to use ANY of those, right? Just the 50% who pay for them. And the top 2% who pay for about 20% of all of them should get moved to the front of the line to use them. Where else do you pay for the majority of hundreds of things for people and then get demonized for not doing enough to support at least 50% of Americans who hate you.

As much as some want to talk socialism. There has to be some of it. There is a pool to some point.

You post a link saying that the people who are complaining about taxes, specifically lately the top 2% who are already paying 20% of all the nations taxes, shouldn't be allowed to use the government services that they pay for the majority of if they complain. And look how the bottom 50% are so well behaved and don't complain. Well of course not! They don't have to pay for anything!

So you brought up socialism now. So you don't think the top percentages of people who pay for the majority of taxes and government services in this conntry, and are now being called evil and greedy for not wanting to pay more, have the right to complain about people who despise them asking them to give them more? What ever happened to gratitude in this country?

Why aren't the bottom 50% who pay no taxes saying THANK YOU to the top income earners for giving them jobs and for supplying the majority of th money to keep this country running? And why aren't they putting up signs around the country on the construction projects saying 'Made possible by the tax payers of America', or Thank you for the wealthy Americans who supplied most of the money for these jobs and projects? Instead of Thank Obama for the stimulus package. Who do you think is paying for it you arrogant prick obama!

1. Do not use Medicare.

I doubt I will be able to. Unless substantial changes are made, it will not exist for anyone who has sacrificed current consumption to save for the future.

2. Do not use Social Security

See answer to #1

3. Do not become a member of the US military, who are paid with tax dollars.

I'm too old, so...ok, I won't.

4. Do not ask the National Guard to help you after a disaster.

In case of a disaster, I would depend much more on my close knit community than the national guard. Seems the national guard usually is needed where the community tears itself apart instead of coming together.

5. Do not call 911 when you get hurt.

Can I call a private ambulance service, paid for by my insurance? They will take me to a hospital where I will receive service which either I or my insurance company will pay for.

6. Do not call the police to stop intruders in your home.

I won't. Should I still call them to remove the body? You know the saying, when seconds count, the police are only 10 minutes away.

7. Do not summon the fire department to save your burning home.

Can I buy insurance from one of the private firefighting companies, and call them?

8. Do not drive on any paved road, highway, and interstate or drive on any bridge.

This one is absurd. There are no private roads.

9. Do not use public restrooms.

Trying to think of the last time I had to use a "public" bathroom. Bathrooms at a gas station, store, etc are all private. Campground? Maybe, but I pay to enter, and those fees pay for the bathroom, so that is more of a capitalist bathroom. I think I can get by without using a "public" bathroom.

10. Do not send your kids to public schools.

Happy to. Now may I have my taxes back which are wasted on these public schools? I'll school my own kids, thanks. (I would prefer everyone have the option to take their own $$, or their own share of the pool and go to the school of their own choosing, but that would be too much freedom for the control freak teachers union.)

11. Do not put your trash out for city garbage collectors.

Ok, private companies do a better job anyway. Trash should never have been a "public" service. (paid for by more taxes, of course)

I love how the left has co-opted things that communities have bonded together to pay for (by their own choices) and call it socialism. States and communities should tax themselves for what they deem are important. The feds should keep their noses out of these things.

I tend to be ok with things we ALL pay for and all use. Roads are a great example. Regardless of your income, you help carry the load. You can limit that by minimizing driving, carpooling, etc, but you still participate. So many things in this country are utilized free by over 40% of Americans who pay no federal taxes. Why wouldn't they want even more....

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

2. Do not use Social Security (Don't use.)
3. Do not become a member of the US military, who are paid with tax dollars.
(Am not, but I have used their services in the past to keep the US free.)
4. Do not ask the National Guard to help you after a disaster.
Never have.
5. Do not call 911 when you get hurt.
Could be privatized.
6. Do not call the police to stop intruders in your home.
I haven't.
7. Do not summon the fire department to save your burning home.
Could be privatized, first fire departments were private companies.
8. Do not drive on any paved road, highway, and interstate or drive on any bridge.
Some highways could be privatized with tolls.
9. Do not use public restrooms.
Most public restrooms I use are supplied by merchants.
10. Do not send your kids to public schools.
I don't and I wasn't educated in them.
11. Do not put your trash out for city garbage collectors.
Private garbage pickup.

Can I continue this?
Department of Energy? Don't use it, can we cut their funding?
Department of Education? Don't use it, can we cut their funding? Already handled at local and state levels.
Department of HEW? Shut it down, let the states handle it.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

The 50% you speak of applies to federal income tax.

It does not apply to Medicare and Social Security. Most everyone that works pays into those, although some low income people get much of it back with the earned income credit.

Most of the other items on the list are not paid for with federal money (maybe a part), but mostly with state/local money which comes from property taxes, state income taxes, local taxes, sales tax, etc. Most all people pay those, though property tax may be indirect if you rent.

So your 50% don't pay taxes arguement doesn't really apply to most of the items on the list.
