Tea Party’s War on America
By JOE NOCERA

You know what they say: Never negotiate with terrorists. It only encourages them.

These last few months, much of the country has watched in horror as the Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people. Their intransigent demands for deep spending cuts, coupled with their almost gleeful willingness to destroy one of America’s most invaluable assets, its full faith and credit, were incredibly irresponsible. But they didn’t care. Their goal, they believed, was worth blowing up the country for, if that’s what it took.

The only thing I would change in that piece is the title....it's really the Tea Party's war on Americans. Never in our history have so few set out to destroy so many.

hey.....you have your view of the events this last week......I have mine. Only time will tell just how much trouble we are in. It just doesn't seem good to me......I think there were far better ways to handle a reduction in the deficit.

Just goes to show how disingenuous the left is and how much one can believe of anything that they say. Wasn't it just a few short months ago that they were calling for discourse that was respectful and healed rather than widened the divide? I guess that only applies when they hold enough power to cram their agenda down the throat of the nation and wish to have the tone of the discussion softened to silence the opposition of their dictatorial actions. "The election is over John" must only apply when they have won the election from their point of view as welll given their unwillingness to accept the will of the people when it runs contrary to their agenda.

All of this leaves one wondering how genuine their recently expressed desire to significantly reduce deficit spending truly is given the elasticity of the rest of their rhetoric, doesn't it.

Total BS aimed at belittling another's opinion on fiscal matters of our government. And why not cast the tea party into the category of muslim terrorists? Nice try.

jihad - Muslims use the word in a religious context to refer to three types of struggles: an internal struggle to maintain faith, the struggle to improve the Muslim society, or the struggle to defend Islam. So how does this apply to the tea party. They are not Muslim, nor would they ever think of defending Islam much less anything else to do with Muslim society.

Full faith??? faith in what? its credit? That remains to be seen who destroys it and who is really "incredibly irresponsible". And where has it been reported that the Tea Party blew up anything?? Archer, I'm a bit surprised you endorse this kind irresponsible rhetoric. Is it necessary to liable another organization because they vehemently opposed your and your parties point of view? I suppose karma will act on this.

The Tea Party declared war on politicians bent on spending this country straight down the toilet. The debt is the fault of those that did the spending.

The Tea Party is like a husband trying to reign in a wife that's gone nuts with the credit cards... Sometimes the only option is to go bankrupt and loose the ability to borrow for a while in order to force a change in spending habits.

If the the current and previous administartions hadn't been complete fawking financial ad economic idiots, we wouldn't be in this position. If the people hadn't just voted for the politician that would give them the most entitlements, we'd be in better shape.

Never in our history have the politicians that claim to represent us set out to destroy the entire economy.

More BS from a newspaper that is going the way of the dinasaur. I wonder if they will ever be critical of the president as our economy continues to crash under his failing ideology? The entire world sees what is happening to our country based on our overspending but these fools in Washington don't want to listen..what a surprise.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

And in the end, the TEA Party people compromised. Imagine that! They did win on a lot of points, but they caved enough that the country was able to increase spending so the Dems won too.

If the Republicans hadn't taken the House, there would have been no FY2011 budget or cuts, just continuing resolution spending and a simple raise the debt ceiling bill with no deficit reduction talks at all. It would have been kick the can as usual. This is only the beginning, round 1.

JIHAD SCHMIHAD! Woohooo! Cut Cut Cut!
