Is our Government trying to destroy the Gulf Coast?

It's kind of skewed to look at this as a US Government problem instead of a BP problem.

The government isn't allowing any more Skimmers into the area. It has nothing to do with BP. This administration has turned down help from advanced skimmers from day 3. They could have kept this mostly off our shores but decided to just sit and watch and form committee's so figure out what to do. They never gave BP an option.

Thanks for the welcome.

Again I'll reiterate the dangers of letting government get involved in business. BP is the one who screwed the pooch by not having an appropriate response to the initial event. Not planning for the "worst case".

As Bush showed, and Obama is proving again, Government is not good at "responding" to events. There is too much politics, lobbying, and money at stake for them to make a quality, well informed, decision quickly (remember a politicians sole goal is to get re-elected) espically on a large issue like this.

Government needs to put prudent rules and regulations in place to protect people and the environment which allows America to prosper in the world economy. American government needs to realize that they are not subservent to business. They also do not need to run business. When Business f**k's up, Government needs to hold the business accountable to clean up the mess, not do it for them.
