I'm not sure how they know they have killed the same militants...but I hope it's true. I also suspect that particular region of Afghanistan is going to get even MORE unwanted attention in the near future.

Give em' the boots boys. :fwave:

I wonder how you'd feel if the rolls were reversed and they were invaders in OUR country and they were trying to give US the boot, waving THEIR flag?

That's a fair question Wayne. We have met and you know I have spent a lot of time in Afghanistan-I know a little bit, first hand, about the enemy there. Perhaps my perspective is wrong but I see the Taliban as criminals. They are not legitimate in my eyes because they are not soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA). They haven't taken any oaths or sworn any allegiance to their elected government.

Now we can argue all day about how "legitimate" the Karsai government is, but the fact remains that his Administration is the closest thing to a legit government that the young nation can claim at this time. We all hope it improves.

Also, there were legitimate ANA combatants on the helicopter when it was shot down....further making the Taliban who shot it down criminal. The Seals and ANA soldiers were on a legitimate mission, wearing uniforms and conducting themselves as legitimate combatants on their mission. The Taliban hides behind their people and often place women in children in harms way to protect themselves...thus the frequent unfortunate killing of innocents.

So they were criminals and died a criminals death. Our forces were there at the request of the Afghan government doing what needs to be done. So bear with me if I wave the flag friend. No hard feelings but I still think my actions are appropriate.

We won't agree and that's what's great about our country. We can disagree and I don't have to shoot your helicopter down.

On my drive home today, I heard that Alice 105.9 had created a donation opportunity to go to help the families of those killed on their Denver Perks website. See here for more details if you're interested.
