Estimates of 250,000 people protesting tonight with 88% of the population siding with the protesters.

"Despite a strong Israeli economy, the middle class says they are being left out.

"Everybody who works, even with a degree from university, he doesn't have enough money to survive, we are all the time surviving instead of living," another demonstrator told CNN. She accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of giving tax money "to the tycoons and to the rich people and nothing comes (back) to us.""

"The protests have stunned the government, which had been preoccupied by stalled peacemaking with the Palestinians. Polls released last week showed Netanyahu's approval ratings have plunged while support for the protesters was high. Although those same polls showed Netanyahu's coalition government maintaining its majority, in recent days, larger numbers of his right-wing camp have begun showing up at protests."
