There was a question if partisan items should be carried by a state-supported bookstore.
Shaw says all political mints have always made liberal statements, with the exception of the Disappoint-MINTS.
"When we made the disappoint-MINTs with Obama, we actually debated for a long time whether to do it because we liked him and we were really happy when he was elected," Shaw said. "But he did disappoint us on several occasions in a big way and so we released them." Shaw said he released the mints after Obama renewed the Bush tax cuts.
Most recently, Shaw said Obama disappointed him when he signed the debt compromise into law.
"I felt that he compromised way too much. He gave up way too much," Shaw lamented. "He's our president. He could have acted presidential."
They has Sarah Palin mints too but no one demanded they get pulled off the shelf. Dissent should be legal.
BTW, anyone read Sirota's column about Obama being a Bizarro FDR? Pretty funny. Looks like Obama angers both the Right and the Left. Sounds like he is doing his job.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The University of Tennessee bookstore has quit selling packages of breath mints that satirize President Barack Obama.
Officials pulled the product, which were called "dissapointmints," after state Rep. Joe Armstrong, who is a Democrat, visited the bookstore and told the manager he found the mints offensive.
Armstrong told The Knoxville News Sentinel that UT uses federal and state funds and should be sensitive to what he called "politically specific products."
The Knoxville legislator says he went to the bookstore after a UT student complained to him about the mints.
Bookstore director David Kent said the bookstore previously carried mints that satirized former President George W. Bush and said no offense was intended."
So where were the delicate sensibilities of this tattle tale liberal student when the Bush mints were being sold? That's what I love about the liberals (not): besides being infantile, they have an incredible double-standard.
Not sure how it's okay for politicians around the country to use 'state funds' to get themselves re-elected, but a state university can't use 'state funds' for purposes of freedom of speech.
And I wonder if righteous Rep. Joe Armstrong was half as attentive about attempting to address our budget woes this past week as he is about visiting a campus bookstore to protest breath mints. Talk about swallowing camels but choking on gnats...
