It's only a concern if the female politico is a viable candidate. In this case, she's more of a sideshow distraction, so she's fair game.

I don't see it that way. Seems to me that participating in portraying any female candidate like that makes it harder for any female candidate to be taken seriously. And whose to say Bachmann isn't a viable candidate? I wouldn't vote for her personally but my personal dim view of her politics doesn't justify disrespectful treatment of her.
