Another Liberal whose mask is slipping. She says what many liberals believe.

ABC's Cokie Roberts said something on national television Sunday that made her colleague George Will shake his head on camera.

During a "This Week" discussion about the recent credit rating downgrade by Standard and Poor's Roberts said, 'The problem that we have here is the Constitution of the United States of America which actually does require people to come together from different perspectives."

It's hard to really tell the whole context from such a short clip, but I think she's actually speaking in FAVOR of our Constitution, saying that it is what gets in the way of and prevents simple majorities from just doing whatever they want, as is the case in European parliamentary systems. She clearly said that, like our system of government being separated into three branches, the Constitution puts restraints on simple majority rule.

Unfortunately, NewsBusters stopped the clip early so it appears she's saying the opposite. I'd like to see her whole response.

And, maybe I'm wrong, but it looked more to me like George Will first started to shake his head but then nodded it as Cokie continued her remarks. Also notice Cokie's eye contact with George while she was talking, like she was looking for approval or agreement.

You can watch the unedited video here: http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/video/ro ... y-14249543

Cokie's response is about 8:45 in. It's very clear to me from watching the unedited video that she was talking against parliamentary government, such as those in Europe.
