Having Standard & Poor's downgrade the creditworthiness of the U.S., and warn the country about further downgrades, is a little like having the Catholic Church lecture Scout leaders on the proper behavior toward boys.
This vicious, and wholly gratuitous, smear of the entire Catholic Church demands an apology. Vicious analogies citing other demographic groups—on this same subject—could have been made, but they would never have been published. Which means that persons other than Saporito should also issue an apology to Roman Catholics. We might expect this kind of cruel remark from some no-name angry blogger, but not from a high-ranking person at Time
Yeah, forget about the reality that when S&P has made a mistake it was because they waited longer than they should have to downgrade a specific rating - like the ones on Fanny and Freddie for instance. Might have been a lot of financial institutions that would have avoided purchasing those toxic mortgage backed securities that Fannie and Freddie were selling as assets if the rating had been properly figured at the time instead of kept high when it wasn't deserved.
Care to address the pedophiles in the Gay Community LJ? Or the ones we hear about all the time that are hired as teachers in our public schools? Didn't think so.....though they are as equally deserving of the smear as the Catholic Church is.
Since homosexuality and pedophilia are virtually unrelated, and since the Catholic church obviously has a much broader, (dare I say, "richer") history of it, I think it's VERY deserving... The institutionalized cover-up has been going on for decades...
Oh, wait, I forgot... The Pope was a "founding father"?
Who said anything about a link other than you? I simply stated that the Gay Community, like the Catholic Church, has pedophiles among its members. There is no more of a link between Catholicism and pedophilia than there is between homosexuality and pedophilia, or Boy Scouts and pedophilia for that matter. Pedophiles exist in every group, regardless of race, creed, religion, profession or sexual orientation. You want to give voice to your bigotry and that is fine by me, but don't expect that I am going to sit quietly on the side when you do so any more than I would expect you to sit quietly by when someone else gives voice to theirs regarding your sexual orientation. A bigot is a bigot LJ. The object of their bigotry might be different, but it is every bit as ugly regardless of whiom the object of that bigotry happens to be.
