Interesting article. A couple thoughts come to mind. Foremost is fear. Many liberal fear the tea party on a fundamental basis because it presents valid concepts that are contrary to their belief system. What better way to fight such a demon than to belittle it, or bath it in inflammatory rhetoric that so many leftists find useful for thoughtless regurgitation.

The other thought emanates from things I've seen so abundantly here, you are told that they know who you are without ever talking with you. Try to engage in thoughtful and critical thinking type of discussions, you know the kind of exchange that seemingly would appeal to these self declared intellectuals, and all you get is mindless regurgitation of the official party line. This clearly is a huge generalization. On this site I'f only gotten a few liberals to engage in an honest exchange of ideas and beliefs. I found those instructive in terms of shaping or reshaping my own thinking. How can you possibly know what a party stand for or believes when you chose not to engage them? Instead you shape ideas from those publications you deem worthy of your time. Kind of like remote sensing, one step removed from reality and simplified from the complexity of reality. This way you are less constrained by real information and knowledge about the breath of people who make up the tea party.

I believe the fear comes from the encouched power class. They use the media to spread fear about the TEA party and OWS, both populist movements. Both sides listen to their media and buy the stereotypes they are sold; TEA partiers are greedy racists, OWSers are greedy hippies. Thus we are divided and the powerful continue unchallenged. It amazes that most are only able to see half the equation.

I'm not so sure it is able as only willing to see half the equation. How unfortunate. It may not be easy to listen to ideas radically different and beliefs from your own, but if we were more reasonable and emotionally tempered in our responses (meaning personal attacks, not being less passionate in defense of ideas) we could learn much from one another. I know I have and will continue to do so when given the opportunity.

Wow... what a little whiny thread Nazi. I've look back over the last few weeks. It doesn't appear that you have been able to string a few coherent words together to start a thread. I'll tell you what. Get back to us when you've graduated from stomping you feet and throwing your rattle about others peoples threads. Try posting something yourself. Start with something simple like "The Political and Social Implications of Using Generic Toilet Cleaners".

Thanks so much for your enlightenment. If you do not like what I have to say, tough. Perhaps at some point you can begin using your brain... oops, that was assuming you had one.
