Don't taint Sept. 11 anniversary ceremony with politics

The mayor slammed reports that Govs. Cuomo and Chris Christie were angling for larger roles at the Ground Zero ceremony.

"We're trying to keep focus on families, and that's where it belongs," Bloomberg said. "This day is not above any of us, it's about the families of 3,000-odd people who lost their lives 10 years ago."

"When it comes to 9/11," Hizzoner added, "I don't think the public is interested in some of these probably made-up stories about political squabbling that really take away from the solemnity of the occasion."

The story I read, there were about 5000 tickets on a first come first serve basis for those not invited. They were soaked up real quick. What they left out was the 1st responders that came to the aid of all, some that were killed also. They were basically told this was not a day for them but only for the families, which is wrong big time.

9-11 sucked.

But it was politically motivated and we reacted politically to make the country and political mess and while more of our own citizens have died in Iraq than in the crashes, an unrelated war that was started because of the political climate around 9-11 as a result of the people being political in stead of logical. I wonder if the millions of Iraqis and Afghans who had family killed as a result of our attacks feel at all political. Do you think our original foundation support of the Taliban when the Russians were in Afghanistan, which likely allowed them to fuel their fire against us, was at all political. Do you think Cuba being more willing to medically treat the conditions of the first responders vs. our own country is political. Politicians voted on their care and decided not to fund it.

May our citizens and all the many more citizens of the world effected by our political posturing and attacks rest in peace.

Deaths and tragedy do not erase or even justify looking the other way. This was all political for the potential benefit of those in politics. This one just backfired, sorta, it propelled Bush into two terms and just about twisted every Americans head around and up their butt. These political postures and the very willing American public covering their eyes and ears screaming, resulted in a prolonged war that now we cannot get out of, has trashed our economy and we spend each day digging this grave just a little deeper.

Very political. The process of avoiding that is equally as offensive as tainting the memory by including it. 12,000 attempts as suicide by our vets per YEAR. Not political, or maybe like everything else in govt. no one ever or will ever to a cost benefit analysis. We just had to do it no matter what the cost. Like punching back in 3rd grade, you have no choice, unless you go to school in Fairfax, VA, where kids are not allowed to touch each other for any reason. That's not politics either.
