"C" used to be the most common grade ... now "A" is. Hardly anyone gets "C's" in college anymore:

And at the same time the cost of a college education has skyrocketed.

Much lower value, much higher cost.

There has to be an incentive for kids to keep borrowing tens of thousands of dollars.

Those A students are entering a job market that is currently offering few professional jobs and despite their grades they don't seem to know much about the fields they majored in. Even worse, to keep up with the student loan payments these kids need to find jobs that pay well.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Maybe kids are trying harder because they know their education is so much more expensive and the competition for jobs is so much tougher?

Interesting, I had never heard this. In engineering in the 80's you had to be above a 3.0 GPA or you got booted to Business school by your Junior year. :)

Bell curves are not really valid for small samples of 20 or 30 students.

In the real job world, your college grades only matter for the first job, after that it's your experience and interviewing skills. I haven't listed my GPA on my resume for years. It just doesn't matter anymore.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

Very true, and even your college doesn't matter that much once you have some experience. Unless you are a presidential candidate, then only Ivy League need apply.

The President went to an Ivy League school? No way! There are no records of his academic existence in school - but he did write a two books....does that count? OK, he wrote one and a terrorist wrote the other one.
