Ten Years After They Killed the Electric Car...It's Back!
Four Men, One Prize
In 2006, as many as 5,000 modern electric cars were destroyed by the major car companies that built them. Today, less than 5 years later, the electric car is back... with a vengeance.
In Revenge of the Electric Car, director Chris Paine takes his film crew behind the closed doors of Nissan, GM, and the Silicon Valley start-up Tesla Motors to find the story of the global resurgence of electric cars. Without using a single drop of foreign oil, this new generation of car is America's future: fast, furious, and cleaner than ever.
With almost every major car maker now jumping to produce new electric models, Revenge follows the race to be the first, the best, and to win the hearts and minds of the public around the world. It's not just the next generation of green cars that's on the line. It's the future of the automobile itself.
Coming to Denver:
Opening November 25th, 2011
Landmark Chez Artiste
Now, obviously we still need oil to produce roads, and many of the components of the cars, so it's not like it'll be "without a drop of foreign oil", but it will make an impact nonetheless if adopted in significant enough numbers. And they can be oh so fun to drive!
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
Imagine what would happen to the power grid if the majority of Californians had electric cars and had to charge them during a hot summer. And what exactly powers the plants the deliver the electricity?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
For years we heard from the global warming nuts that we needed to get away from the coal fired electricity plants as they were major carbon producers....now the nutjobs are embracing electric cars. Wow, that's like saying cancer is caused by smoking but we approve of smoking pot as a way to treat an ear ache. Fortunately, we would never be so dumb to approve pot smoking. rofllol rofllol rofllol
There are quite a few companies ready to release electric cars. Nissan, Tesla, Fisker, Phoenix, Coda, and Chevy volt. Also the majors are working on models, and I expect Honda and Toyota have models in development that are secret. The price is still too high, around $40K with credits, but the Lithium batteries are pretty good, though expensive. I think you will see them on the road soon, but not in big numbers yet.

All that lithium going into batteries is causing a shortage in medication for the psychotic. Prices for the medication are going sky high.
Drive a Volt, and you hate modern medicine.
"Whatever you are, be a good one." ~ Abraham Lincoln
So far the Volt is big loser, but we'll see. I don't think there is a chance in hell that we'll see a shift to these cars until the economy and debt get under control. But there will be those on the left who want taxpayers to subsidise government incentives to buy them....we know how well that works out.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
The subsidies are a big question. Right now in CA, the combined credit Federal and state is around $10K/car. However, it is subject to the whim of politics and can be extended or cancelled. Difficult decision for the manufacturers to decide whether to invest big $$ for the long term and sell a product that is uncertain. This is part of the reason they are hesitant to jump in. Is $10k/car a good investment by taxpayers?
And yes, the Volt sales have been poor I heard. I think GM was pushed into that by the Gov't and the car Czar! We'll see what happens in a few years.

Imagine how Denver would have changed in 1905 had the Teddy Roosevelt given tax subsidiaries to Fritchle electric car. The Fritchle was produced in 1905 and, by the end of 1907, another 20 or so had been delivered to customers in the Denver area.
