School costs have risen much higher than the rate of inflation. In fact, they say student loans are on pace to become larger than mortgage debt.
But I think only part of that is Obama's fault. Too much emphasis placed on a college education when too many grads are working Starbucks. Colleges just don't think they need to reduce costs because of such a high demand for degrees.

if they "feel more cynical about the political process than they did in 2008" who's to say they'll even participate in 2012?
Virtually all the "youth" in my realm voted for Obama. 90% couldn't explain why, they just didn't like Bush. McCain was old. Just had dinner with 6 of them the other night. They are actually looking at the candidates now. 2 wish Hillary would run. None are voting for Obama, unless he makes some drastic changes. The majority opinion of these young people is disgust. That the older people in society are throwing their future under the bus because we aren't willing to sacrifice for our own bad decisions. We are just kicking the can down to them, and virtually guaranteeing no future.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Just out of curiosity, have any of your friends discussed who they might consider, or are leaning toward yet? I know it's still early, but I wonder these things myself as I don't really see any candidates who dampen my feeling of disgust thanks to their rhetoric, actions, "pledges", votes, claims, immoral behavior, compromised ethics due to funding from special interest groups, and/or short-sighted, selfish, short-term thinking.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
lol The young are fickle, why advertizers like them. Look how often pop stars go in and out of fashion.
Obama was held to unreasonable expectations and was unable to deliver, so you have to expect some discontent, but will the youth pick a new messiah or decide to just stay home?
And of the discontented, how many want a more liberal POTUS? a more conservative? Or simply a leader of the free world who shows competence and leadership?
I don't see any new messiahs on the GOP side appealing to the youth of America, just a lot of old boring, white guys.

Nope. Right now they are trying to research. Not one has supported anyone. They actually like a couple, but those ones aren't running. They really use the internet and social media for their research, and after they let emotion get ahold of them last time, they are really trying to see who can improve their lot in the future. Most of my young friends are pretty depressed at the future we are leaving for them.
I'm pretty disgusted with virtually all politicians as well, since most promises become empty once they reach the power in Washington.

This should tell the Republicans something.....I think Ron Paul appeals to them because he leaves the social issues out of his campaign.......the youth of America don't want a bunch of politicians dictating their moral code. I don't want politicians making moral decisions for my country, we are NOT a religious country....and never should be. And I'm not a youth, but I sure can sympathize with them. If the Republicans want to attract younger voters they need to tone down the religious overtones in their message. Only Ron Paul and Romney seem to "get it".
