- Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was in Colorado Wedneday to announce a funding award for two planned light rail lines in Denver.
The U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Transit Administration are awarding the Regional Transportation District a $1.03 billion federal grant to help build the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport and the Gold Line through Arvada and Wheat Ridge.
Ground will be broken on Wednesday on the Gold Line. It will link downtown to Arvada and Wheat Ridge, another northwest suburb.
Ground was broken on the line to DIA last August. It will link downtown to Denver International Airport.
