Not sure if this has been posted here before or not, disregard or merge if necessary.

Basically in my personal opinion, I'm probably already on a 'list' or two somewhere anyway so I have no desire to change my purchasing habits.

Bwahahahaha! So I'm probably on the list cause I bought a bunch of stuff at christmastime a couple years back so the boys could play "real military" out in the woods with their airsoft guns. oooOOOOooo! So horrible.

Given my frequent trips to the Middle East and occasional visit to military surplus stores, I'm certain computer matching is likely to tag me as special interest material. lol So be it. If that makes them happy and keeps them looking for relationships that don't exist, we are bound to be safer.... NOT.

Spying on the general public is on the rise. Taxi drivers are asked to call about suspicious activities and it sounds like RTD riders are being encouraged to take training and keep alert.

I'm looking at it this way. My one grandfather worked at Ball Areospace, on moon rocket projects. MY other grandfather also worked for a company deep in government contracts. My uncle did covert ops behind the Iron Curtain before I was born. Add onto this the number of teachers in my family - current and former - including myself.(Teachers are considered first line subversives, which is why they are imprisoned or killed first in wartime.) Add a son about to be part of the military complex. I grew up knowing sometimes, we were followed, sometimes phone calls have been listened to, and come home to the feeling that someone had been in my house just before I got there. Not paranoia, just SOP. It mellowed a LOT after my grandpas retired, picked way up again 10 years ago, mellow again.

When this kind of thing STOPS in my life, THAT is when I will truly be worried - because it means one of two things - either we've gotten to that revolution status discussed in the other thread, government spending on those agencies has been cut way back (HA!), or there is seriously something scary and bad about to happen that needs the attention of agents who formerly watched over aging milliners and educators like myself.

Well - I lived in the Muddle East - and journeyed to a number of " interesting" countries - including Yemen and Iran - and I own a number of firearms (mostly sporting arms, to be fair) - but enough to have one in the hands of every household member. I already get pulled aside and checked by TSA (there's someone out there with my name and DOB who IS on the official no-fly list).

My uncle lived in Spain, Cyprus, Istanbul, and Austria - and still does not discuss what he did for a living before he retired.

If uncle sam wants to watch me - I suppose that's fine. He isn't going to learn much - and he won't be making the country safer by doing so.

I think we should get as many folks together as possible, go to the local surplus store and each buy a case of MREs. Pay with cash. Make those boys earn their pay. rofllol
