Libya's rebels are looking to set up new oil field contracts with French and British oil companies, previously Kadaffi had done business with Italian corporations. (The Week, this week.)
Do the rewards go to the victors? Or is it just a grateful nation doing business with the people who helped them throw off the yoke of the Kadaffi family?
With all that oil wealth, I think Libya could soon be a leading nation in the region, but the BBC yesterday brought on a expert who notes that countries that depend on oil wealth for funding the goverment instead of taxes don't feel responsible to their taxpayers/citizens. It would be nice to see that Libya prove to be an exception.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Not gonna happen. IMO. The people there are like a winner in a lotto all is good for now but it will be gone very soon and they will return to a impoverished way of life with a corrupt governing force.
