You just can't fix stupid.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

So sure enough, the bill gets published and guess how Barry proposes to pay for the next stimulus package? Through INCREASED TAXES!

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a sharp challenge to the GOP, President Barack Obama proposed paying for his costly new jobs plan Monday with tax hikes that Republicans have already emphatically rejected. The reception to his new proposal was no more welcoming, setting the stage for a likely new fight with Congress.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

He said that in his speech......no surprise there. But we all know that the Republicans won't go for any tax increase on their donors and mentors. Just ain't going to happen. Too bad, a few new jobs would be nice.

As one of the unwashed masses fighting through the lower-income middle class that would benefit from having my payroll taxes cut in half, I find that part of the bill to be most troubling as I worry it will pave the way for the GOP to cut the currently solvent Social Security program because not enough REVENUE is being brought in to keep it solvent.

That being said, let's look at the GOP's alternative plans for creating jobs in the US and restoring the economy....

1) Cut taxes for corporations and the wealthy.
Yup. That's worked for the last 30 years; especially the last decade where our deficit practically doubled. The only time we saw a reversal in that trend was when Slick Willy RAISED taxes 3% and suddenly there was a surplus in our budget. Imagine that. Increase revenue and reduce the deficit to a projected surplus. Even financial gurus like Warren Buffet have decreed that tax cuts don't work.

2) .... uhm..... wait... is there a #2? Oh right. Let's bail out the financial, auto, and insurance industries (bank bailout, GM bailout, AIG bailout + "compromised" health care plan).

What haven't the GOP done? They haven't increased tariffs on imported goods to make it not cost effective to export US labor. They haven't offered tax incentives to hire American workers, use American products or help out Americans. They haven't created any jobs or legislation in the two years they've controlled the House of Representatives (for those lacking true political knowledge, ALL BILLS START IN THE HOUSE).

So, yes, I support the American Jobs Act, warts and all, because in the absence of better legislation, or more of the same, this is finally something this President has done that may actually help the American Public that elected him and not just the Corporate Overlords that funded him.

If this jobs bill had been proposed back in 2009 instead of the stimulus, I probably would of supported it. I like how it is focused on jobs.

The stimuls was a huge irresponsible, unfunded spending program where money was thrown in all directions hoping some jobs will be created somewhere. There was no direction to it, unlike what this jobs bill seems to have. It was just throwing money at congress' (and lobbyist's) pet projects.

I find it odd that 6 people have voted that they think the stimulus bill did well. Can one of you explain how you think that? I did at least give an option to admit the stimus bill didn't do well but you support the jobs bill, but nobody voted that option.

Just look at the graph in the first post. The $800 billion stimulus was supposed to reduce unemployment by about 1 to 1.5%. Even had it worked, would it of been worth 800 billion unfunded dollars? But it didn't work, and the projections were missed by a mile even right after the bill was passed. The actual unemployment rate is now about 2.5% higher than the projections, and it's not dropping as it was supposed to. $800 billion for that? And now we want to spend another $450 billion we don't have. Not to mention all the billions additional we've spent to extend unemployment insurance because the stimulus failed to do what it was supposed to do.

President Obama, at least give us another graph showing your projections for how this new $450 billion jobs bill will cut unemployment. I want to save it for when we talk about how well did your bill do in a couple of years from now. So now we are supposed to just spend another $450 billion in blind faith with no projection on what it's supposed to do for the unemployment rate? :bash

I'm pretty sure this is not about making jobs, so much as buying votes. Since when does spending money make things better? Does not compute, Mr. President.
