Per NPR this morning, because of enviromental concerns, they are replacing the low watt incandescent bulb with a more politically correct heating element.
And anyone else notice that enviromental always costs more? The heating element will raise the cost of the Easy Bake Oven by $50! :bash
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I watched a demonstration and it takes 20 minutes to warm up...sounds pretty wasteful to bake miniature cookies and cupcakes. As long as we eliminate the evil incandecents it's all worth while..
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Wouldn't it be better just to buy a cheap toaster oven and show your child how to use the temp and time switches? Does it really have to be a big plastic contraption that barely (if at all ) works?

My guess is that whoever decided to do this doesn't give a rat's patootie about the environment nor are they concerned about women's roles. They just hope they can revive an old (and stupid) toy by passing it off as trendily "green" to people with more money than sense.
If there is one thing that bugs me more than people who don't care anything about the environment at all, it's people who only do so as a fashion statement. Buying a hunk of junk plastic that will probably be used once or twice on Christmas morning, then sent to a landfill, is NOT my idea of environmental awareness, even if the stupid thing were powered with it's very own solar panel.
Don't waste your money. The only ones that really seemed to work were the old metal ones, and only if you put in a bulb that was too many watts for the machine.
My parents refused to buy us one - said we could learn to bake in a real oven. And I did, at age 6. Excpt the cat killed the first cake I ever made - knocked it off the counter, broke the glass pan it was in, cake was a total loss.
My kids didn't seem to miss having one either.
Yet another toy from our childhoods killed by people who think they know best for everyone.
