When Great-Grandma Antonina wanted to reinforce her opinion on a point of political or social contention, the diminutive matriarch of a family friend would draw herself up to her full 4-feet-eleven-inches and declare with a dignified surety that would brook no doubt, “I read it in the newspaper!”

Yes, I'm sure all the seniors are going to be really motivated to vote for the party that wants to kill their Medicare and Social Security...

Might have some validity if there were a party that wanted to kill Medicare and Social Security.

And if unchanged, Medicare and Social Security will eventually die on their own.

I've already heard your plan to extend Social Security (increase taxes for those making over $100K by 6.2% plus add all the Obama increases too, as I recall). But just curious, how to you propose to fix Medicare? I may of missed it.

By the way, what is the Democrat plan to extend Social Security and Medicare?

Maybe they're the last of the generations that understand sometimes you gotta give something up for the greater good?

Nawwwwww you're right. They're selfish old entitlement lovin coots - they'd never agree to cuts in their benefits if it would help get the economy back on track.

I know that is the Dem talking point but Obama has made the biggest changes to Medicare by passing Obamacare. And the current Ryan plan wouldn't change Social Security for anyone over 55. But if you repeat the lies enough, someone will believe.

Plus what are people more worried about now, retirement plans or the current Obama recession? And if the recession is Bush's fault and Obama can't fix things, why vote for him again in 2012?

Anyone who actually knows that Republicans (minus a fringe or two) have never said anything about cutting benefits for anyone close to retirement age.....it just makes younger people have to wait longer or it will be gone anyway. Pushin granny off the cliff commercials won't work with a more educated public.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I think you will find that seniors are more concerned about SS and Medicare being there for their children and grandchildren than they are concerned about losing their own benefits. They know, better than anyone how valuable those programs are in their own lives.

I would hope that neither party can count on any voting bloc. They have all treated us ill. Making them feel insecure would be the best thing for them.
