How orthodox are you?

It's interesting, there seems to be very little variety in beliefs here. You have the hard left and the hard right and a smattering of those who occasionally surprise you by posting a position that shows actual thoughtful deliberation. How do you feel you diverge from the politics of your party. (even if you are unaffiliated, if you consistently vote for the candidates of a particular party that would be the party you compare yourself to. )

I'm Republican but think my party is insane a great deal of the time. Every time I think maybe I should change to democrat, they do something equally as stupid. Change from within.

I am a Republican but an ever widening divide opens between me and my party's platform. The major differences are that I am pro life in all instances, I believe we must pay our bills even if it means higher taxes, I do not feel we should intervene militarily unless our national borders are threatened, i believe that any company that moves resources and jobs offshore should not receive tax subsidies or government contracts. I believe that science and politics should be strictly seperated. I don't think any candidate should be means tested on any issue. Finally I don't believe that anything without a beating heart is a citizen.

You do realize that they stop the heart when they do open heart surgery?

diversity in MANY ways....not a strong ethnic mix (seems almost NO mix)JMO....that accounts for the LACK of "actual thoughtful deliberation"....JMO

True, but even at family gatherings that obviously boast even less diversity I see a lot more individual variations.

How you come you don't have a choice of:

"I'm a
but I differ with my party in a few instances." ??

I would say that if you only differ in a few instances that they represent you well, but it would be interesting to hear what the instances are, many or few.
