This story seemed like something a good amount of phone communcation and cooperation between countries could accomplish without the need of sending local LE abroad, but whatever floats their boats. I'd like that job, can you please ship me to another country and pay me to live there?

That aside, though, I'd be more worried about the cameras covering every part of the city, and the identification that is going on by clothing, facial features, etc.. If you're afraid of Big Brother, NY is the last place you should go now.

It's a good thing NYC didn't have that capability during the Ed Koch and David Dinkin's years....

Police go back and forth in militarization. I have seen some 30's pictures with officers manning tripod machine guns and carrying fully automatic Thompsons.

And during the Cold War, the NYPD had a unit devoted to finding Russian spies and fifth column communists.

Also... no offense to the NYPD... but take an airplane out of the sky in the middle of a city?

I hope I never have to see it, but when I do... that's when I'll believe it. There's too much danger in that, in so many ways.
