I have always liked Charles. I remember how he revolutionized the brokerage industry. My first acc was with ML and the commission on a 100 shares was (?) xxx.xx$.

"By CHARLES R. SCHWAB
In his speech before a joint session of Congress on Sept. 8, President Obama said, "Ultimately, our recovery will be driven not by Washington, but by our businesses and our workers."

He is right. We can spark an economic recovery by unleashing the job-creating power of business, especially small entrepreneurial businesses, which fuel economic and job growth quickly and efficiently. Indeed, it is the only way to pull ourselves out of this economic funk. ".................

Instead of "creating" 50k a year jobs at 200k a piece (guessing the income but 200k is in line with the current Obama plan)...what if we took that 200k and split it up among 10 entreprenuers with logical business plans. That's 20k for budding entepreneurs they can use 5k at a time with every new hire that stays 6 months (with maybe a 5k pre hire to start). When these new hires start making income, paying taxes, and get off the government dole, I think it would do far more than dumping more into the public sector.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

In a way that is an experiment that is already in progress in the private sector.

Now, an entrepreneur has launched a fellowship that aims to test that theory by paying people not to go to school.

The co-founder of online pocketbook PayPal, Peter Thiel, on Wednesday announced the winners of a fellowship that will pay nearly two dozen students $100,000 not to attend college for two years.

The catch? (There’s always a catch.) The 20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowship winners have to spend the time working on their scientific and technical innovations. They’ll be aided by a host of high-profile advisors who will teach the kids about disruptive technologies, mentor them and provide support and training (but don’t call it school!).

I'd like to see the results, but it does sound like a refreshing idea.
