SC, when a murderer dies, they can no longer keep committing crimes of any kind. I don't believe it is much of a deterrent for others. I've already said that I support sterilization of welfare recipients if they get pregnant while on our dime, and mean that. The issue of abortion isn't pro-choice (it isn't do I want a grande or venti which cheapens life to a ridiculous point) vs pro-life. If we don't become active in the worlds ever increasing population problem, those we put in office will do it for us.
Edited to reflect it isn't all directed to SC.
Countries like Saudi Arabia have extremely low murder rates, and public executions. Is there a direct correlation, or is there a level of 'morality' present, that is absent in the U.S.?
Why is their crime rate, and in particular their murder rate, so low?

Great question! Today people say the youth of America are lacking a moral compass but the murder rate is the lowest since the 60's when religion was a much more important in America. I am guessing the murder rate is dependent on a lot more variables than moral codes and a death penalty.
Most of Europe has repealed the death penalty, but I don't think their murder rate changed.
