Here is what I think, some religious people put their religion out there so much that they turn off other people. If he wants Christians only. Great.
However, why would you? When I was in retail Christmas was about 50% of our sales for the year. (You would be surprised to know this ran into January too)
Anyway, I never talked about Christmas. I instructed my employees to use "Happy Holidays" because I wanted to stay neutral for my businesses sake and not turn anyone off.
I think he is cutting his business for the sake of religion. Lots of people do it so, feel free. There are lots of oil and lube places so if it were me I would stay away because most likely he will only work hard for me if he knows I am a Christian. Just seems stupid to mix them up.
And that is just a smart business decision. While I can't quote scripture nor care to, I have no problem with this one way or another. I do not feel he is cramming anything down my throat since I do have the choice of shopping elsewhere. If that makes him or her happy, fine with me. Go ahead, have a great day.
Hey, my kids went to a Lutheran school. I was discriminated against for not being as religious as they were. It is a fact. I do not think you should mix the two in business but to each his own. I don't begrudge anyone for doing it. I did however want to see what others thought. My question about, is it okay if Christians get the discount, was my thinking that most people who were not religious were going to go out of their way to quote scripture and I do know people that take issue with people that are not Christians. HMMMM....... maybe I could think of another thread to bring up.
. Is that cool? You decide.
CG....sorry if my comment sounded like a criticism, it really was just a comment on the fact that it didn't match the story.....I didn't even click on the thread for a while because I thought.....who cares? I get senior discounts, what's the difference?

I guess, the people up here are not going to go our of their way to do so. One needs to remain honest with oneself. If Christianity is not a cornerstone of my life, why should I pretend or use it for gain? Doing so would be too hipocritical. I'd rather change the oil in myself.
Then if you start another thread, be sure to include the needle.
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Support came pouring in Thursday for a Collin County businessman offering customers a break on the price of an oil by asking them to quote a Bible verse.
Charlie Whittington said a woman was waiting for him when he opened his Plano shop Thursday morning, just to offer support.
He took phone calls from people in Oklahoma, Alabama and Florida, all from people supporting his discount idea.
“I really believe if you talk more positive stuff you get more positive things out of it,” he said Thursday. “I want to inspire people to look where they can do more.”
