Jury: Burge Lied About Torture
He face up to 45 years in prison.
A decorated former Chicago police lieutenant accused of suffocating, shocking and beating confessions out of scores of suspects was convicted Monday for lying about the torture of suspects.
Well. Justice is supposed to turn a blind eye. It matters not what he was. Only what he did matters. Confessions he obtained may very well have been false and the very thing so many of us worry about most of all. False confessions, wrongful imprisonment and death. I see no reason why he should not take responsibility for breaking the law he was sworn to defend.
