Of course this whole thing could have been averted and Obama would have had a good shot at reelection if he had taken his own commission seriously instead of sh*tcanning it.
"As the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (widely known as the “supercommittee”) begins its work, many have asked what we would counsel based on our work last year as co-chairmen of the president’s fiscal commission. We can summarize this advice in seven words: Go big, be bold and be smart.
The stakes for this committee are very high. If the panel is unable to reach agreement on a credible deficit-reduction plan, and the across-the-board cuts agreed to in the August debt-ceiling deal are allowed to take effect, the consequences to our economy and our political system would be serious, if not devastating. Such an outcome would produce not only bad policy, by cutting spending indiscriminately without setting priorities, but would further undermine public and market confidence in the political system’s ability to resolve problems."
It's more likely that they will come up with some wishy-washy "solutions" that they can hang the bipartisan banner on that don't really solve anything. Otherwise a few of them will find their spines and be painted as partisan hold outs who never intended to compromise on anything. Either way I don't predict anything good for the economy will come out of this latest attempt by Barry and his staff to cover the giant turd of an economy we have with pretty pink frosting and pretend that all is well.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
