I don't think the cops should be called in this case, but I don't make the rules.

Have you seen the new crackdown on letting parents introduce their teens to booze before they are 21? When I grew up, it only made sense to let older teens have a beer or a glass of wine on special occasions in controlled situations, no more. Parents can now get busted for that.

When I delivered pizza in college, if we'd called the cops on everyone smokng pot, half the town would have been arrested and we'd have lost all our customers.

College town pizza calls - highest on friday and saturday evenings after people have had time to get their stooned and drunk on. Seriously.

We used to have a guy who would answer his door naked if he knew a female delivery person was on for the night - so one night we sent two of the guys over with his pizza instead. Nothing was said, his pizza was delivered to him nicely, but he stopped opening the door naked for us.

What ever happened to minding your own business most of the time?

Minding your own business doesn't allow you to discover how much of someone else's wealth there is to confiscate and redistribute.

So are you saying the pizza delivery people are casing your crib? Somehow that computes, you wouldnt have home delivery, if it were available, would you?

Of course this different. Smoking next to a child is not good but what is being discussed is being under the influence and watching a child. I just watched a really interesting 2 hour program on Prohibition. I think the thing that bothers me most about this stupid smoke in mirrors MM law is that it is a farce and there are no regulations and no information. I hate dog and pony shows.

Few have real facts on what is considered DUI with MM, or how it can affect you. Alcohol is completely different. I think what amazed me about prohibition was how it actually raised the price of alcohol and made corruption in law rampant. I think the Pizza guy was right to worry and you can always call law enforcement to ask what you should do.

I will always err on the side of caution when you are dealing with children.

First of all I agree with Soulshiner. Too many think they know what is best for others. Screw you. Stay the hell out of other's lives. Your reasoning sounds a lot like that I encountered with a Muslim friend of mine who was most concerned about his kids getting exposed to porn on the internet. he never considered that simply the knowledge of it existing and that expressing his philosophy on the matter was enough to allow his kids to make an intelligent choice. The same can be said here. Kids are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. Further, there are lots of assumptions regarding the person's ability to reason and make adult decisions about his child as CG points out. Most of us go on preconceived biases to cast judgement. I seriously doubt that the child was in danger from a father who was stoned. Let's take this a step further. You discipline your child and I happen to be in the doorway right afterwards and see them crying. I call the police because I suspect child abuse. Simply invasive of another person's private life. Again, we judge because the methods of bring up a child do not conform to our own set of beliefs. Tough. There is no one way of parenting and that is what this issue is about. Stay the hell out of other's lives.

When you deliver pizzas, you come away with a ton of stories.

I once delivered to a guy who was wearing a silk pirate outfit with no pants and wanted me to come in "relax". No thanks.

I also used to deliver in Long Beach, CA and there was a guy who would always be having sex right inside his front door with a different beautiful woman each time you went there.

You also deliver to A LOT of guys wearing women's clothing. A LOT.

I'll bet that Papa John's and PJ's in general will lose business over this. Who wants a delivery person who will come to your house snoop around and call the cops on you?
