NEWSFLASH: I think Reid used the Nuclear Option on jobs in Nevada too! Nevada is currently at 13.4%....since Reid has been the Senate leader...jobs have been hit by a nuclear shockwave.....

2006 4.2%
2011 13.4%

I guess Reid thinks a higher number is better. rofllol rofllol rofllol rofllol

There is irony here in on at least a couple of levels.

Anyone remember back in 2005 when Republicans were frustrated with Democrat led filibusters of several of George Bush's judicial nominees? The Republicans threatened to use the nuclear option back then and Democrats were furious. They threatened to shut down the Senate and shut down all routine Senate business. Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Republicans were fixing to “blow up 200 years of Senate history”. And now Democrat Harry Reid does just that.

And of course as has already been mentioned, the other ironic part is that Reid used the nuclear option to stop a vote on Obama's Jobs bill. That's the one where he's said over a hundred times "pass this bill!". It's kind of hard to do that if the Democrats won't allow a vote on it.

Here's a few quotes from now hippocrite Dems in 2005, back when they opposed the nuclear option before they were for it.

Harry Reid 5/18/2005: “Mr. President the right to extended debate is never more important than the one party who controls congress and the white house. In these cases the filibuster serves as a check on power and preserves our limited government.”

Harry Reid 5/18/2005: “But no we are not going to follow the Senate rules. No, because of the arrogance of power of this Republican administration.”

Barack Obama 4/25/05: “The President hasn’t gotten his way. And that is now prompting a change in the Senate rules that really I think would change the character of the Senate forever…what I worry about would be that you essentially still have two chambers the House and the Senate but you have simply majoritarian absolute power on either side, and that’s just not what the founders intended.”

Dianne Feinstein 5/18/2005: “If the Republican leadership insists on forcing the nuclear option the senate becomes ipso facto the House of Representatives where the majority rules supreme and the party of power can dominate and control the agenda with absolute power.”

Joe Biden 5/23/2005: This nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power. It is a fundamental power grab.

Lots more quotes from other Dems as well...

Why aren't the Republicans trying to shut down the Senate like the Dems did in 2005? :bash

Kate wrote: Gee, PS, you make it sound as if the Senate Democrats are fighting against the President, when that's actually not true.

The argument originally started on the Senate floor tonight over the China currency bill, which ironically enough enjoys bipartisan support. Earlier Thursday it received 79 votes on one procedural motion and 62 votes – two more than necessary – to cut off debate.

But Republicans sought to add as amendments to the China currency bill two measures on which Democrats did not want to vote – one was on the President’s jobs bill, which they hope to change, and another was from Senator Mike Johanns, R-NE., to block EPA rules on farm dust.

Yeah, it's easy for you to make stuff up.

Did you read the quote kate...specifically

two measures on which Democrats did not want to vote – one was on the President’s jobs bill, which they hope to change

Why do they want to change something that Obama wanted passed yesterday? Is it maybe that the Dems have gotten used to Obama passing responsibilities to them and they now think they are actually in charge? Seems like a disfunctional family to me.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
