I agree...show me this group of Dems that want the tax code revamped. Just raising the rate on the upper end is not going to change the horrible system.OmniScience wrote:

Are you serious? The only people I hear talking about real tax reform (flat tax, consumption tax, eliminating loopholes, etc) are the people on the right including the current crop of GOP candidates and most of the right leaning talk show hosts.
The vast majority of what I've heard from the left is simply 'tax the wealthy', which is absolutely pointless until the tax codes are changed.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/13/busin ... wanted=allSenator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon, a longtime proponent of an overhaul, said he had a straightforward wish for taxpayers.
“I want them to get their springtime back,” said Mr. Wyden, who along with former Senator Judd Gregg, Republican of New Hampshire, is the author of perhaps the leading bipartisan tax proposal under discussion. “We are going to see millions of Americans try to wade through this insanely complicated system, a system that just got more complicated as a result of the last few months.”
http://israel.house.gov/index.php?optio ... 7&catid=46In his State of the Union address, President Obama challenged Republicans and Democrats to work together to simplify our overly-complicated tax code. It’s a challenge Steve believes Congress must take on sooner rather than later.

So you disagree with Clinton and agree with Obama....just wanted to be clear.archer wrote: I absolutely agree with what Clinton said, with one exception....he said "when the economy recovers" we should tax wealthier Americans at a higher rate, well, for the top 1% the economy is booming, they have never been doing better than they are right now, so now is the time to be letting their tax cut expire. If I recall, the tax cuts were never intended to be permanent, but with the recession, extending them for the middle class was the right thing to do......but why would we do that for the wealthy who are making more money, and widening the wealth gap at an astounding rate?
