Obama’s Teleprompter Stolen!

NBC12 has uncovered one of those stories that makes you think: “How in the world does that happen?!” A truck filled with President Obama’s podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield.

We confirmed an investigation with the U.S. Defense Department. There are still a lot of questions. The biggest one being did the thieves intentionally target the President’s truck or did they take advantage of a crime of opportunity and give a big “uh-oh” when they saw what was inside.

Good thing Barry has the USAF at his disposal! Barry's handlers wouldn't want him to try to speak with out his teleprompters. It makes me wonder if the Secret Service got caught not paying attention or just not caring.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

The Truth About Presidents And Teleprompters

There's one reason above all others that President Obama uses a teleprompter in delivering most of his speeches: he's good at it.

Ronald Reagan was the same way. He was more at ease in reading his speech off the dual screens of a teleprompter than looking up and down at a speech text on his lectern

Not so, George W. Bush. He often got that nervous, deer-in-the-headlights look when giving an address from a teleprompter. He would seem stiff and ill-at-ease. He did not convey a sense of understanding.

"He preferred using large index cards," said his one-time White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher, "plus I think he was just more comfortable with the cards."

It's definitely a finely honed skill to deliver a speech from a teleprompter (seen in the top right corner of the above picture from Mr. Obama's speech today in Columbus, Ohio). It takes as much if not more focus or concentration than reading a paper copy.

Mr. Obama doesn't always give a flawless teleprompter performance. He'll occasionally stumble on a word or lose his place – but not often. And when the White House provides an advance text and reporters can follow along, Mr. Obama can be seen plowing his way through complicated run-on sentences without hesitation.

By using a teleprompter, a speaker can have greater eye contact with an audience – and that means a lot.

This is a biased POS article - as usual. Reading off a teleprompter is about as easy as squatting over a toilet bowl. Trying to read a speech from cards or sheets of paper requires far more skill than reading off a teleprompter.

If using a teleprompter is that easy....how come Bush had such a problem with it? Surely you didn't mean to imply that Bush was not the brightest of presidents.

What's disturbing to me is that anyone was able to get access to items that would be within explosive distance of the President. Any of this equipment could have been booby-trapped rather than stolen. While I'm not a fan of his, I'd hate for him to be blown up via podium or teleprompter.

Replied by LOL on topic Obama’s Teleprompter Stolen!
Thats a good point Mtn Gramma. Or some operative could have hacked into the teleprompter and changed the speech to something good for a change instead of the usual campaign babble. :)
