Why would a smart and thoughtful person ever decide to get in a political race when they get put under the microscope for every little indiscretion they've ever made? When people decide to move next door just to stalk you for a story or dig through your trash, it's a huge detractor...you would have to be insane or just mad power hungry....and that's all we ever seem to get.

The cool thing with the new internet and tracking society is that not just politicians, but NO ONE will be able to get away with any little indiscretion you every made. All records will be instantly available, you will never be able to speed, spit or slur without it being documented and held against you. Remember the laws were written with the assumptions and consequences of people NOT ALL getting caught. You think there are a lot of people in jail and a lot of fines and fees now...just wait 10 years. I bet in that time frame we get to the point where just about everyone has a family member or friend in jail or being held for little indiscretion or a few of them.

I was just watching "How I Met Your Mother" and this episode was about how they would do an internet search on anyone they were dating instead of actually getting to know people face to face. It would be nice to learn about the candiates instead of having pundits decide for us who is worth picking.

Rockdoc Franz wrote: Political BS will continue. OWS ought to focus on our government, they are the ones who bailed out the idiots on WS and the rust belt. We all know that until we can get real leadership this country is a sinking ship of injustice. As posted on anther thread, "When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty" Our political leaders are about to call us to duty.

ou

I still think you are missing the point. In our system, WE pick the leaders, regardless of the media, it IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY to pick them and OUR RESPONSIBILITY to accept the consequences of our decisions. We picked this system and if it does not change in one election cycle, we picked it all over again...not just a few of us BUT MOST OF US. This call to duty needs to happen at the poles, it is the only place, not wall street, not on TV or the internet...these and many other places have shown not to help the process. Protest, revolt, wining, complaining about the gov....SHOULD ALL BE DIRECTED AT FELLOW CITIZENS and ACTIONS at the poles...we are the deciders.

The Occupy and Tea Party movements, BOTH OF WHICH ARE BIG AND LEGITIMATE are a commentary on........

YOU didly YOU YOU YOU (all of you and me, not Rockdoc) way more than the ELECTED OFFICIALS.

Blaming the media is just another excuse (another comment), you should be blaming your fellow citizens again for being so influenced and conformist, but it is hard, it is what they were taught in school, in fact it is most of what they were taught at school. Blaming pundits just sounds funny, why are you watching them and if so, why are you believing what they tell you. You can spend that time researching alt candidates or actually calling or visiting them. Mark Dowalbe has offered many people many times to have a meal and talk things over. I think I have even heard him offer a meal with all three of the local leaders to citzns...or you could read the flume and read here....which is better?

This is OUR system, we design it every day. They are not the leaders of us, they are our leaders, there is a difference, if we make sure there is....though it is pretty easy to blame the media or the people the we chose to lead, or the other party or affiliation, I guess. The comments by people like LadyJazzer (who does make good comments other times) who just bash the other group because of their name or when they wake up IS EXACTLY why we interact so poorly with what is a pretty cool framework of govt. Thanks a bunch for being a big part of the current problem. Part of what the OWS protesters are protesting is the gridlock created by people like LadyJazzer who could get behind them (irony), but cannot effectively debate issues, no sling sh*t half the time. It is not just Lady Jazzer, he/she just stands out on top of the pile. I figure if you say something like "teabagger" or another slur for the left, you are the problem embodied, you are the roadblock to communication which is the first step to better govt. no matter what your perspective on it is.

No, actually 64% of Americans think that taxes should be raised on the top 2%; and...

In fact, the Time poll found that twice as many people support Occupy Wall Street as approve of the Tea Party -- a margin of 54 percent to 27 percent -- suggesting that the protesters' grievances are striking a real chord with non-activist Americans.

:yeahthat: The OWS revolution will restore Obama, Wall Street shill, Chris Dodd(D) another Wall Street shill and all the other corrupt Dems in the House and Senate. I am sure that is why all those hippies are risking pneumonia, to elect the same old boy Dems.

If you think that the protesters are there merely to re-elect the "same old boy Dems", or that it's only "hippies" participating, then you haven't been paying any attention to what the movement's about (check out their blog/newsletter/website), or what many of the independent news stories have written about this movement. And look at the Dems - they haven't embraced this either b/c they know what it means for them and their coziness with corporatocracy.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

have only been watching Fox News who presents the protests in the worst light they can.

I forgot, the trust funders are there too. And the young people who detest corporations as they camp in REI tents and use Apple electronics.
