I thought they started the war on Halloween at least a decade ago, when schools stopped having Halloween parties and instead have "Fall Festivals". Cause you know - a costume of batman is sooo subversive...
During my time in the Navy, seemed a rarity when my ship was actually home for Christmas and New years, we would have a contest on the piers for the best Christmas and New Years decorations. We always strung the rigging to put the lights on, made a board that we drilled the holes for Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on it. Then I took our portable PA system and set it up on the bow and played Christmas music. Never won, but it was a good feeling coming to the ship in the morning and hearing the music and seeing all the ships decked out.
This happy holidays crap, well must those policitically correct folks, I am not, never will be. It will always be Merry Christmas and a Great New year
And personally, if it offends someone, get the hell over it and go away. Don't really care if it does offend someone.
I've always been bemused regarding the association of Halloween with anything other than reverence for the departed souls of those held dear given the history behind the day.
Oh, I have NO PROBLEM with Merry Christmas... But we always know when FauxNews cranks up the annual "War On Christmas" schtick... All of a sudden all the Righties get upset. I just thought we'd start it early this year and beat FauxNews to the punch...
