Republicans war on Science

Last month, Washington Post columnist Steve Pearlstein wrote that if you wanted to come up with a bumper sticker that defined the Republican Party’s platform it would be this: “Repeal the 20th century. Vote GOP.” With their unrelenting attempts to slash Social Security, end Medicare and Medicaid and destroy the social safety net, Republicans are, indeed, on a quest of reversal. But they have set their sights on an even bolder course than Pearlstein acknowledges in his column: It’s not just the 20th century they have targeted for repeal; it’s the 18th and 19th too.

The 18th century was defined, in many ways, by the Enlightenment, a philosophical movement based on the idea that reason, rational discourse and the advancement of knowledge, were the critical pillars of modern life. The leaders of the movement inspired the thinking of Charles Darwin, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin; its tenets can be found in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. But more than 200 years later, those basic tenets — the very notion that facts and evidence matter — are being rejected, wholesale, by the 21st-century Republican Party.

The social safety net has expanded under every administation and Congress, whether Republican or Democrat. Currently we spend 66% more than we take in.
1 out of 6 of us is on food stamps. Doesn't sound like the current Republican Congress has cut any benefits to Social Security, in fact, they just raised benefits via COLA.

And the Dems claim the Republicans are waging a war on science? I claim the Dems & Republican politicians are waging a war on the next generations, partying with credit cards and sending the bills to our children and grandchildren.

Even healthy middle aged men impersonating babies are drawing from Social Security these days and 1/20 of us is on Social Security Disability. Would you prefer 50% on Social Security disability? Go for it, we will let the kids pay for it. Talk about the sins of the fathers.

Think beyond the talking points. No one, I repeat, no one is cutting Social Security. People on Social Security are the most active voters out there. It would be a death sentence to the Republican party to end Social Security.

He forgot to mention that Republicans want to watch women die on the floor and that they want people in general to die more quickly. (Oh ya and throw granny off a cliff) rofllol must be a slow news day in leftwing dumbass land.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

It doesn't matter Republican or Democrat, our government is waging a war on our pocketbook.

Wars, social services, infrastructure, health care... it doesn't matter.

We don't have a two-party system anymore, we have a one-party system with two heads, and both heads are trying to bury themselves in your pocket and chew up your money.
