Only a conservative would ask this question...

This just shows how unrealistic the greens are about alternative energy. Nations throughout the world are facing massive debt issues and the enviros want them to go even deeper into debt supporting unviable wind and solar energy.
We have a solar panel battery backup system and they only way it makes economic sense is because the nearest power line is 4 miles away. Irony? BP built our solar panel.

It seems to me that this is not something the conservatives would ask, but rather something liberals accuse conservatives of asking. Too many times have I observed on her, for example, liberals putting words in other people's mouths. This is simply another example.

I dunno, I worked at companies on various solar, wind, and hybrid car related projects and it seemed like most of the engineers and managers were generally conservatives as far as I could tell. Economic viability and practicality are always valid questions. I did get in trouble one time when I complained about all these "past R&D projects sitting in the corner of the lab collecting dust". It was true, but not a "good attitude" I guess. I don't work there anymore. LOL :)

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

And I really don't have a problem with the goverment subsidizing some research and development into alternative energy. I am hoping eventually it will be able to make a leap, especially solar, and be cost effective when compared to fossil fuels. But right now is not the time to subsidize companies with bad business models or technology that isn't ready for prime time.

Or even worse, (carbon credits) taxing the energy that is working for us.

That really is the whole point of the misinformation the sign posted projects. Liberals are the only ones who advocate getting away from oil based energy. Hell, even I, an oil company whore, am having solar installed for hot water and hopefully heat. Broad brush strokes are so misleading and in this cast totally wrong. First of all scientists hardly ever consider the full consequences of their efforts in terms of humanity. First comes the intense challenge of solving a problem, it's application is left to others once the problem is solved. Do you really think the neutrino work going on in physics is being done by scientist bent on solving issues with it for humanitarian purposes. I doubt they even have an idea of how such an understanding will impact mankind at this point. It's pure science.
