Realistically do you think 9-9-9 can be passed?

Think about it. Looking at it, no matter what Cain says, it WILL raise taxes on MANY people. 50% are NOT paying any taxes and now they have 9% more on everything they buy and a minimum Fed tax of 9%. So the Dems SURE won't vote for it. It is a NEW VAT tax that has proven a disastor in other couhtries so the Republicans won't vote for it. No TRUE Conservative or Tea Party member would vote in a NEW tax when we have been fightin to GET RID OF taxes. So all 9-9-9 is, is a catch phrase. It is the 2012 version of Hope and Change was. An empty phrase that means nothing. And yet people are falling for it! He needs a new plan!

Does anyone really think it will pass?

I shake my head at conservatives who complain about burden on the middle and lower class of the short-term increase in energy costs for switching to renewables on one hand (which will save more in the long run), then say they're gonna pass legislation that raises taxes on that same group with the other.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

Exactly. Please tell me WHO in congress would vote for it? They would be voted out their next eleciton for raising taxes on the lower and middle classes. And many R's are already outspoken against it so they won't pass it. I just don't get what people are looking at?

Cain HAS to come up with a new plan in order to win! Apparently they are going to discuss it in detail tonight in the debate with Cain and Newt. Newt's plan, like Perry's will blow Cain's away. I am waiting to see how he defends it. It is on CSPAN but I am not sure when.

I DON'T BELIEVE IN NEW TAXES!! Take one away from the manufacturer and then give a new one to teh consumer HOPING that the manufacturer will lower their prices? Who wants that or believes that would happen?

No proof. All assumptions and the bankrupcy's left and right are proving that.

It would be difficult to pass. It is easier to make exemptions on income taxes for the poor.

We have a constitutional amendment addressing income taxes - that needs repealing - 9-9-9 is a way to sneak in a VAT
the feds can then raise the 9-9 part to any level the see fit via congressional action in the future. The entire thing is another scam.
