You'll have to excuse me if I am a tad skeptical at armageddonists. If I'm wrong, feel free to mock me. I refuse to live a life of fear and dread. I've always found those who long for end times as sad people unwilling to take responsibility for their lives.

Mock you would be the furthest thing on my mind, but I will be thinking of you and others like you. Like Homeagain, I also believe shock waves like we've never experience before will roll across this land will alter our landscape forever. If not, all the better. However, I've always been one to be prepared for any and all opportunities or crisis. The signs are all out there. if being prepared means moving towards self sufficiency so be it. Because in the end, even if all goes well, my move will not hurt me one bit. It simply allows me to live more comfortably under any circumstance. No matter what, the America I came to embrace in my youth exists no more. Some things are better, but a whole lot mere have gotten flushed. Not all change is for the better.

In 1942, Stuart Chase, in his book "The Road We Are Traveling" spelled out the system of planning the Fabians had in mind; the interesting thing is to look at that plan in comparison to 2008 America.

1. Strong, centralized government.

2. Powerful Executive at the expense of Congress and the Judicial.

3. Government controlled banking, credit and securities exchange.

4. Government control over employment.

5. Unemployment insurance, old age pensions.

6. Universal medical care, food and housing programs.

7. Access to unlimited government borrowing.

8. A managed monetary system.

9. Government control over foreign trade.

10. Government control over natural energy sources, transportation and agricultural production.

11. Government regulation of labor.

12. Youth camps devoted to health discipline, community service and ideological teaching consistent with those of the authorities.

13. Heavy progressive taxation.
Imagine the good fortune of the Democratic Party to simply follow something printed so many years ago.

Ah Utopia!!! We are nearly there!! Finally, I will be able to rest. rofllol
