Pelosi Camp Accuses '60 Minutes' of 'Right-Wing Smear'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s spokesman denounced a “60 Minutes” report suggesting that she had a conflict of interest regarding stock purchases was a “right-wing smear.”

The report on the Sunday news program disclosed that then-Speaker Pelosi and her husband bought stock in the credit card company Visa in March 2008 while a bill that would limit the fees credit card companies could charges merchants was pending in the House.

Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said “60 Minutes” omitted key information in its report and said it relied heavily on a “discredited conservative author who has made a career out of attacking Democrats,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

I am as liberal as they come but have to say that Pelosi should be ashamed! Instead of pointing the finger I would like to see her support legislation that makes this illegal.....I know, I am not holding my breath.

Typical response from a politician. No apology for wrong doing, but attack the other side of doing you wrong. There is no sense of ethics. She like all politicians today and before her are above the law. The lack of integrity much less taking responsibility for their actions is what disgusts me.

And just off the top of my head, I think the 60 Minutes video mentioned more Republicans than Dems. I could be wrong on that, but it did go after both parties. So how is that just a right wing attack?

It's a joke what Pelosi is saying. Pure politics and buzz words.

Again, if she's serious about reform, get that bill out of committtee to reform Congress and get rid of this potential insider trading crap!

The show went after Boehner for much the same thing.....this difference to me was Pelosi took offense at being called a crook, and Boehner didn't seem to be the least bit concerned about it.

That's probably explained by Boehner's knowledge that he isn't a crook and Pelosi's knowledge that she is.
