Occupy Wall Street: the hidden meaning behind protests

For nearly our entire history as a country, Americans have shared a social contract.

It went something like this:

One of the cultural characteristics that makes America great is the fact that we celebrate winners in our society. We look at people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and we say to ourselves, "If I work hard enough, I can be like them."

So we look in the mirror each morning and ask, "How am I doing? Am I working hard enough? Do I have the right education, skills and talent to succeed in this country?"

From the article...

Right on cue, protesters nationwide are massing. They are demanding change. They are standing up to what has become — to the perceptions of far too many Americans — a rigged game.

Let me fix that "Right on cue, protesters, murderers, rapists, drug addicts, anarchists, socialist, communists, drug dealers and people with bad potty habits nationwide are massing. They are demanding something for nothing. They are standing up to what has become hard work - life - to the perceptions of far too many Americans — a rigged game... that they now want rigged in their favor."

Sure, if you rewrite it with different words, you can make it say anything:

"Right on cue, protesters, teachers, college students, soccer moms, parents, and people with something to say nationwide are massing. They are demanding sprinkles for their cupcakes. "

Game rigged? Or instead, they aren't willing to work as hard as their forbears to succeed and feel entitled.
Spent too much for a degree that no one is hiring for? Cancel my student loans.
Buy a home at the top of the real estate bubble? Cancel my mortgage.

Think Wall Street is too cozy with goverment? Don't vote out the corrupt goverment officials, instead smoke dope, hang out in tents, and play the drums.

I have made lots of mistakes with my finances and I am not asking the Feds for a handout, why are they?

Because they have no ability to take care of themselves. All they can think of is blaming everyone else. It's all a cycle, it's gone around a number of times in history and the results have NEVER been different. But those that put their faith in governments taking care of them from cradle to grave have much more of an interest in thinking that they can effect change... because the reality of the truth, the reality that the alternative is having to take care of themselves is too much for their little entitlement brains. In their small minds, there has to be a solution... and they whine... "and please... someone figure it out for me."

That's why I am on my own "grid." I rely on government for as little as possible, at least no more than the constitution assures me, I make my own happiness, work as much and as hard as I need to so I pay the bills and don't screw others. I don't expect anything that I can't create or conjure up myself and I don't covert anything from anyone else.

Leftist, progressive and socialist can't make sense of that. They have to have someone holding their hand, a safety net. They are not resourceful enough to create their own reality. That's why they have to rely on someone else to shape their world.

They lead a sad and meaningless existence.

The game has become more about who you know than what you know. Does anyone left or right deny that? Yes, the game is rigged. Most CEOs today didn't work their way up from the bottom ranks of the company like they did in our parents day.

And we KNOW that EVERYONE whose mortgage is underwater bought their home at the top of the bubble; bought it in the last 8 years; bought it sub-prime; and bought more than they could afford... It goes without saying... :Whistle
